Fresh as a Daisy

Cathy made this fresh, pretty quilt with repro 1930s fabrics.

The borders are a nice soft linen type finish fabric. I haven’t quilted a fabric like this before and I must say it quilted up lovely.Super cute mini Hexies in the corners.

Cathy asked for the quilting to be kept nice and soft.

Perfect for this quilt.

Hearts Entwined

Jenny from Romany Quilter gave me her Heart themed quilt to stitch. I follow Jenny's blog. She had a plan last year to complete a stash of UFO's. This quilt was worked on during year so I watched it all come togther.I was delighted when she asked me to quilt it.

Such a pretty quilt. I cross hatched all the Nine patches and the checkered border, feathered around the hearts and Mc Dazzled the border.

Aren't these heart blocks pretty? Jenny stitched them and then coloured them in.

Jenny said she doesn't care to applique long vines so she cleverly used wide Rick Rac in the borders.

Jenny tells me this quilt is destined for the bed in their caravan. I hope she has many sweet dreams sleeping under it.

An easy start to the New Year...

For a nice start to my new patchwork quilting year I made something for me.

I have called this quilt "Proud as" because of all the bright Peacock colours. When I set out to buy fabric for this quilt I hadnt planned to use colours like this but the feature fabric just leapt off the shelf at me, I went a bit crazy with feathers on this one, I love the way the feathers on the blue double flying geese shapes look a bit like a peacock tail.

The pattern for the Walk About quilt can be purchased online at Grizzly Gulch Gallery

It's a super easy fun quilt to make. If you ever need to make a quilt in a hurry use this pattern. For all you QOV makers this would be a super pattern.

Marion's Japanese tree of life....

This is the second Japanese style wall hanging that Marion has sent to me to quilt. I always enjoy stitching these panels.

Love putting texture into the critters.

Lots of soft wavy McDazzle perfect for the background.

Thanks Marion, it was a pleasure to stitch your quilt.

Sweet Peas

Yes, Sweet Peas are still meeting at our house every second week. I have lots of pictures to share but I wont hit you with them all at once. Andreena is very clever at spotting nice items to make for Christmas. She found the Origami Candle mat pattern which we all thought looked rather nice. So we had a sewing day, look what we made

Since we had our mat sewing day Andreena has made two more:

If you think you would like to make one of these the pattern is by Poor House Quilts. You may find other tutorials out there on the net but the method used by Poor House Quilts makes this project a breeze. As well as being used as a mat a sleeve can be attached to the back to make a wreath style hanging.
